Some of you may know by now, but Karana has stepped down as Head of the Brown Ajah (Comm-side)... and I've been picked up as her replacement (oh lawd). My first act as the New Head? Try to pull people back in; the Browns have deteriorated, and I want to get all the people who have helped make it an awesome Ajah back home to help rebuild :)

I did some trimming down on my list. I usually just ::don't::, but there are cases where there's 3 old journals for one person piling up, or where I've not seen said person post in 2 years or so. I think that should reassure some of you that I didn't just start chopping like a madwoman :p I also kindly removed some that recently removed me, since I guess I probably should lose interest in them if they've lost interest in me ;)

10:05pm: They did.. WHAT?!
Today I am the proud loser of nine teeth.

Yes, I am now short nine teeth. My jaw is sore, my gums are still a touch bloody, but the partial looks sharp, at least!

I'm just happy that it's finally done. I'm not happy that I woke up a couple of times during the procedure to FEEL the teeth being ganked out -sighs- I think I also heard at least two "oops!"es and one "need to chip the jaw"... and they had to jab me twice to get the IV needle in -shudders in pain at the thought.. again- Still, at least I've got percocet (which is sort of helping), and that knowlege that I can start sneaking a FEW smokes tomorrow afteroon, but not -THAT- many. I'm working on taking care of healing first, and addictions second :)

I'll post some pictures of me with the new partial bit in (it's called a partial 'cause it's a partial denture, I believe) when I'm more healed up. For now, I'm going to keep snuggling my brick of frozen spinach (ice is recommended for dealing with day one swelling and pain, light heat on day two), and plotting to hit the sack for the eve quite soon (especially considering that I'm kind of still recovering from the flu or something flu-like!)

Thanks to the good words of love and support I've gotten thusfar. It's going to be an adjustment FOR SURE, and I'm hoping it doesn't change the sound of my voice too much -fingers crossed-

Erm... what the hell? I'm sorry, but having been a person growing up with a family member infected by both HIV, and then AIDS (by the way - took EIGHT years before it went to full-blown AIDS, so z0mg! Looks like those inhibitors REALLY do cause AIDS! :p), I would say I know a damned sight more than some decadent musicians following a cause because it seems like a good thing to do, and are CONVINCING THE YOUTH OF AMERICA that they're right, when they're wrong. Granted, they are right in the fact many of the medications used to control the virus are pretty toxic on the sytem, but oi! Research has come a long way, y'know, and most people in the US who have been infected in recent years live pretty normal lives :)

I think I wouldn't be so up in arms if I hadn't spent a portion of my teen years as an AIDS awareness activist - I did a TV slot, am pretty sure I was in and/or on publications, and I have taken part in workshops and discussion panels. To have some gotterdamned idiot say otherwise, and to get the word passed in this fashion is INFURIATING! The age group that the band mainly peddles to makes it even worse, considering quotes such as:

"Your risk of being hit by lightning is greater than that of contracting HIV through a one-time random sexual contact with someone you don't know here in America," says Maggiore, an HIV-positive Southern California resident with no formal training in medicine or the sciences.
